Abdominal Therapy
What is Abdominal Therapy?
Abdominal Therapy is an ancient technique belonging to the Mayan culture. Dr Rosita Arvigo, a Naprapath, learned from Don Elijio (the last Mayan Medicine Man). Through her learning, Rosita began connecting the information and anecdotes to modern medicine in order to understand why and how it helps. This work is a beautiful bridge between an ancient culture and medicine as we know it today and I’m honored to be a part of the lineage.
This work is entirely external. This gentle work focuses on improving the flow of nerves, arteries, veins, energies, and lymph to the core of the body in order to bring our bodies back to homeostasis. Abdominal Therapy helps to guide and support organs back to their optimal position which allows for improved functioning.
What Should I Expect?
Before your first in-person treatment, we will have a virtual meeting ranging between 45-60 minutes where we explore your health history, current symptoms, and goals. This session is mandatory and is included in the first treatment price.
The first hands-on treatment involves an external massage to your abdomen to address the diaphragm, digestive system, and reproductive organs. The following treatments will include the abdominal work as well as your back, hips/glutes, and sacrum.
At the end of your first treatment, your therapist will teach you how to practice Your Abdominal Massage aka YAM. Practicing YAM at home has helped many people increase their treatment benefits long term.
What is YAM?
YAM is a simple practice that only takes about 10-15 minutes a day. This practice has been said to provide profound, lasting effects on patient’s health. Rosita developed YAM as a way to encourage and empower her clients by offering them a role in their own healing journey.
